About the Counsellor

Christine has had many years of working in the voluntary sector with adults and children who are experiencing major changes, difficulties and crisis in their lives.  She has been employed and volunteered in a variety of settings over the last 12 years and as well has having her own practice she is also involved in the management of a registered charity within the Forth Valley.

Christine was recently selected to take part in the British Associaiton for Counselling and Psychotherapy new BACP ‘Certificate of Proficiency’ and was successful in passing this competency exam.  She is one of the first to be awarded this Certificate and will be included on the MBACP Register.  Christine has also engaged in Mindfulness and Compassion Training and Developing Supervision Practice with Advanced Professional Training/University of Strathclyde.

Christine currently works in several different ways:

  • Individual, Couple/Family Counselling for Clients and Employee Assistance Programme Providers.
  • Group Work Facilitation for Individuals, Community Groups and Voluntary Organisations.
  • Tutorial Assistant at The Centre of Therapy in Glasgow working with CBT Counselling Diploma Students.
  • Project Co-ordinator for Start-Up Stirling, a charity supporting those who are experiencing homelessness and housing difficulties.

Christine is also a Full Member of the BACP and is currently working towards accreditation and works within BACP’s Ethical Framework.  Her membership details and more information on the professional ethics can be found on the BACP website www.bacp.co.uk.

As good practice and in accordance with the above ethical framework, every counsellor and therapist is required to access supervision with a qualified supervisor.  This helps to ensure they work to the best of their abilities and in the best interests of their clients.  Christine accesses supervision on a monthly basis.

She is committed to all areas of equality and diversity and provides a counselling service to all clients.

Christine’s counselling practice is located in Alloa Business Centre, which has extensive car parking facilities, good bus services and is within five minutes walk from the railway station and town centre facilities.  The consulting room is located in a quiet part of the business centre in a discreet location.  Entry to the building is through an attractive reception area which is also suitable for disabled access.  Access to meeting rooms for group work and also meetings in other areas can be organised by arrangement.
